Slice of Life: Love, Peace, Cookies 15 of 31

It's day 15th of the March Slice of Life Challenge.  31 days of writing.   Thanks to the amazing Two Writing Teachers team for all of their support in this event.   Today I'm writing about Girl Scout Cookies.  Here's a poem I wrote about them in 2012 Slice of Life Challenge:  Girl Scout Cookies.

Returning from dinner I spot them in the freezer.  A box of peanut butter Girl Scout cookies are tucked on the shelf calling my name.  If they were meant to be hidden, someone should do a better job.  Besides you can't stash from a stasher.  I know how to find any piece of hidden chocolate within miles of my home.

Reaching in I grab a cookie.  Okay.  I grab two cookies.  Okay.  Let's not talk about it.  Who can resist a Tagalong?  Besides, they're only here for such a limited time.  These are the things I tell myself as I reach into the box.

This year I purchased cookies from my niece.  She delivered them with this lovely post-it, "Love.  Peace.  Cookies."  Doesn't that just say it all?  What if cookies could solve the world's problems?  Wouldn't it be nice if life were that simple.  Growing up a cookie solved any problem, or at least diverted my attention long enough for me to think it did.  I laughed when I saw her note.  I couldn't have said it better myself, "Love.  Peace.  Cookies."

  3. I love the note--and Tagalongs. Those are my favorites, and a box is not safe anywhere near me.

  4. Thin mints have always been my favorite. This year I tried a Tagalong for the first time. I now have a new favorite. Now that I think of it, I DO feel peaceful when I have Girl Scout cookies hidden in my house...of course, I'm the one who hid them. :)

  5. If they are near, I cannot resist. Now you've gone and made me hungry with this picture. Maybe if I check I will find some Thin Mints in the freezer. Cookies do make life easier. :-)

  8. I love the note: Love, Peace, Cookies. I could so live by that motto. Thin mints are my go-to cookies but Tag-alongs are definitely in second place. Be sure to check out Pinterest for an incredible Tag-along copy recipe. I made them for my family and they were pretty darn close to the real thing.

  10. Girl Scout cookies are definitely something to look forward to, aren't they? Those boxes got me through the last round of progress reports and then the rest of them mysteriously disappeared.

  15. Brings back the memories of you and your inventory list that you kept with your Halloween candy to make sure no one took any of your candy, lol... Miss Ellie has a way of putting everything in perspective with her little stick ums and sayings!!! I just put cookies in the freezer for their visit and I know that I will have eaten all of them before they get here, lol... They just seem to call my name!!!!

  17. We got a little homemade sign from a Brownie troop who was selling cookies at Sam's Club. It was so darn cute! Those little extra touches are so nice. :)
