On Your Mark, Get Set, Slice!
Well today is the official start of the month long Slice of Life Challenge hosted at Two Writing Teachers. This is my third year to participate. I'm excited to continue to collaborate, learn and grow with this amazing community. I'm also thrilled to have some new friends joining this year, but I'll tell you about that in another slice. After all, I have to write for 31 days straight! I can't tell you everything now.
Today is also the Celebrate Link Up at Ruth Ayres blog. Since it is the end of the month I want to Celebrate my February Discoveries.

This year my One Little Word is DISCOVERY. I must admit this month has been a tough one for discovery. It's been cold. Bitterly cold. It's also been full of busyness with school commitments, professional learning opportunities, and life. Still I manage a few discoveries.
I was fortunate to have the opportunity to meet friends for dinner at Wolf's Ridge Brewery in Columbus. It's a bit sad that it takes people to come from out of town for me to take the time to try some of the amazing restaurants we have in Columbus. I wish I had a picture of my dinner, pan seared scallops in coconut curry sauce. Oh my! My mouth just waters writing the words. The dessert pictured at the top left was from Wolf's Ridge. I'll let the picture speak for itself. Well, I'll tell you, it tasted even better than the picture looks!
I tried a few recipes from Pinterest in February. This baked eggplant recipe was a delicious side dish. I don't know about you, but we eat potatoes, potatoes, potatoes, Mashed potatoes. Baked potatoes. Fried potatoes. I've been trying to discover new side dishes to have with dinner. This baked eggplant recipe will be one I will use again.
This month was #nf10for10, a nonfiction picture book event. I'm still checking out books suggested by other bloggers and discovering new titles. My students loved It's All About Me-ow just as Clare and Tammy promised. I'm looking forward to continuing to work my way through these new titles.
Finally, I don't know if roses for Valentine's Day are a discover, but these pink roses were different. They definitely brightened the house which seems to have been surrounded by snow for months.
Today, at the end of February, I celebrate DISCOVERY.
Now to March, where the discoveries will surely be part of the this month's Slice of Life Challenge.
Hi Cathy, I love your 'Discovery!' Your details about potatoes made me laugh - your brother would have been in heaven! And those beautiful pink roses are so refreshing. Happy March!
ReplyDeleteCathy.... discovery is so important. It adds spice to our lives! I love discovering new restaurants, and I've become a bit of a foodie.

ReplyDeleteWhat great celebrations! Next time I'm in town I might make an exception to my veggie diet and eat a scallop! :) They sound amazing.
ReplyDeleteI do love the mosaic, Cathy - such a lovely visual of your discoveries. I keep meaning to check out Pinterest for recipes, and your description of the eggplant has me even more curious.
ReplyDeleteI continue to be amazed at how much you take on and how well you do it all! Even though I get to talk to you in person almost every day, I look forward to reading your posts during this challenge.
