Roller Coaster: Poem 15 of 31

slowly
the coaster rounds the first bend
then climbs.
up
up
up
it rises.

we hold our breath
reach for the sky.
we race
down
down
down
the giant hill.

screams fill the air.
the cars
twist
turn
twist
on the track.

We hold on
As the roller coaster
speeds
up
down
around,
tossing us.

until finally brakes screech
the coaster
comes to a stop.
clank
clank
clank
we jump off
running to get back in line.
