dandelion roars
its goldenrod mane stands strong
as it stalks green grass

Great metaphor! And so true!
ReplyDeleteAnd so true about that stalking, Cathy! My daughter (a long time ago) heard someone say that spring was here because they saw a dandelion). She was sad because she wanted to see one too, but thought it was the 'real' thing-a lion! Your poem reminded me of that story. Beautifully done metaphor!
ReplyDeleteMy 7th grade haiku crazy boys will love this one, as do I! Perfect metaphor for this wild garden beast!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Cathy. Love the metaphor, too! Surprising and so very right at the same time.
ReplyDeleteHA! Love the stalking!!
ReplyDeleteOh how I love this majestic harbinger of summer daze-- your haiku paints a vivid portrait!
