Poetry Month: No Poem 12 of 30
For the month of April, I'll be writing poetry each day in celebration of National Poetry Month. I've decided not choose a theme, not to plan the writing, but instead to wait to see what poetry finds me each day.
Today
there
is
no
poem
waiting.
Just
silence.
I
look
to
the
stars.
Nothing.
I
listen
for
the
words.
No
sound.
I
wait
patiently
for
the
poem.
Nothing
comes.
I
reach
for
the
keys.
No
words.
Just
a
blank
page
staring.
Maybe
tomorrow.

This is how I have felt pretty much every day this month! And yet you managed to shape a poem! I love the way you structured it.
ReplyDeleteYou definitely made something out of nothing! I love how you shoved all the words to the side and left most of the page blank -- your blank feeling displayed for us. Your words trickle down the page -- no flood of thoughts or ideas.
ReplyDeleteThere's something special about the way silence evokes poetry, and before you know it, you have a beautiful verse celebrating silence.
ReplyDeleteA big yes to this one. Writing poetry has been a real challenge this month. I love the way this poem spills so narrow down the screen. The word placement really does convey the blank feeling.
