#SOL17 Day 3: Each Sky
The door opens.
I step outside
greeted by the sky burst -
again.
I don't know
how many suns,
how many moons,
how many times,
I've looked at the sky.
Sunrise or sunset.
Morning or night.
Mid afternoon
as clouds dance across the sky.
Every single time,
my breath catches.
I stop;
caught in the moment.
Each sky
a new masterpiece,
painted hues
of possibility.
I don't know how many times
I've marveled.
I only know
each sky
a gift.

Wow! I really enjoyed your slice. Your beautiful word choice (like "as clouds dance across the sky" and "painted hues of possibility") created pictures in my head and deep feelings in my heart. Thank you!
ReplyDeleteMy favorite stanza is the 2nd from the last. Painted hues of possibility. WOW. That's beautiful.
ReplyDeleteHey Cat, I like: 'I only know each sky is a gift!' This is beautiful - I love the imagery!
ReplyDeleteCathy, this is wonderful. It makes me long for the lake and the sunsets I know we'll be enjoying.
ReplyDeleteLove this post. I raise my face to the sky each time I walk out too. It never fails to amaze me. Beautiful poem.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful. Your words and photo. I'm always amazed too.
ReplyDeleteThis is almost exactly how I feel looking at the sky.
ReplyDeleteBeautifully described. Thank you for capturing it for us. :)
For the beauty of the sky, I'm also grateful. Nature's canvas ever changing...you captured that moment for us to enjoy.
ReplyDeleteWow, just wow. The visual image is gorgeous but the words tell another story of your participation in the sunrises and sunsets. Love it.
ReplyDeleteCathy,
ReplyDeleteI can see you standing at the threshold caught in the moment.
Every single time,
my breath catches.
I stop;
caught in the moment.
Ended up here because another slicer posted a link to this (from Twitter) on her blog. And I'm so glad she did. The number of slicers is overwhelming, and I keep missing some of my favorite slicers.
ReplyDelete"Every single time
my breath catches.
. . .
each sky
a gift."
This poem goes into my notebook! Thanks for this love letter to the sky.
The picture is beautiful but the words are much more so. Thank you.
ReplyDeleteGod's handiwork is amazing.
