National Poetry Month: The Magic of Poets 19 of 30
Poets
sit by their windows,
pen in hand,
notebook open,
attentive.
Carefully
smoothing the cacophony
of sounds
into gentle rhythms
for tired souls.
Collecting
beautiful words
as they float by,
weaving phrases into
alluring tapestry.
Crafting
with a precision
of vision,
painting vivid images
with each stroke of pen.
Arranging -
and rearranging -
lines on the page
until they are perfectly set
for the eyes of the world.
Poets
make magic;
And I sit here,
computer open,
writing about morning coffee,
the sweet dance of flowers,
and smiles that make the heart sing.

It's National Poetry Month. This year, I selected "CHOOSE JOY" as my One Little Word Phrase. Since I'm on the lookout for JOY, it makes sense to share a poem each day this month about what I find.
It seems that at the computer, a poet is also making magic! Lovely details, Cathy!
ReplyDeleteFinally found your blog!
ReplyDeleteWonderful wonderful reflection on the process of poetry and the celebrating of poets.
I love the second stanza! Poets like Mary Oliver and Mary Lee Hahn and you definitely do that for me!!! I think you should put all of your poems into a book and give it to everyone you love for Christmas!
