The Magic of Poets

Poets 

    sit by their windows,

        pen in hand,

            notebook open,

                attentive.

Carefully 

    smoothing the cacophony 

        of sounds

            into gentle rhythms

                for tired souls. 

Collecting

    beautiful words

        as they float by,

            weaving phrases into

                alluring tapestry.

Crafting

    with a precision 

        of vision,

            painting vivid images

                with each stroke of pen. 

Arranging -

    and rearranging -

        lines on the page 

            until they are perfectly set

                for the eyes of the world. 

Poets

    make magic;

And I sit here,

    computer open,

        writing about morning coffee,

            the sweet dance of flowers,

                and smiles that make the heart sing.
