Day 11 SOL 16: Noise Quiets Poetry

Noise quiets poetry.
It's hard to hear the whisper of words,
when the television shouts
with stories of lives
twisted in a second of bad luck.

It's hard to capture the phrase
when the to-do list is long,
and the tasks of the day are endless;
when our time is spent
taking care of all that needs done.

It's hard to notice
the dandelion appear,
the moon in the night sky,
the nudge of truth,
when you are busy.

It's in the peaceful moments
that poetry finds its place.
Words need a certain amount
of quiet
to find their place in poetry.

For the month of March I will be participating in the March Slice of Life Challenge hosted at Two Writing Teachers.  It will be a busy month of writing, commenting, and learning with this community.  Stop by today's link up to join the conversation or find some great reading.

It's Poetry Friday!  Stop by Live Your Poem as Irene Latham hosts today's parade of wondrous words.

Comments

  1. Your poem is so calming and thoughtful. Good way to help me reflect on the "busy-ness" of life.

  2. Oh I love this! Especially the first line. You are so right. That's why I can only write poetry in the morning before everyone else in my house is awake.

  3. This is beautiful! Finding the poetry, or for that matter, any words, is so hard in the noisy, busy lives we sometimes lead. I will be looking for the peaceful as well.
    Love this!

  4. Definitely lots of truth here!
